I want to counterpoint this subject of Selective Mutism with a brief comment, why can’t people be happy being quiet? Though looking at it now, I believe as I was being forced to talk, this kid may have been forced to do something they don’t enjoy.  And that kid may have been forced to do something they don’t enjoy.

Are the teachers actually teaching the kids or only sitting at their desks watching them?  Are they shaming them?
